Click here to see a short demonstration of Hyperformix decision support for virtualization.
Data that could be useful for decision support lurks throughout the enterprise, yet turning it into insight for critical IT choices and investments hasn't always been simple or straight-forward. It's difficult to make informed IT decisions with confidence without "one source for the truth" for capacity and performance data.
Data Manager by Hyperformix provides a central repository that can be leveraged across the enterprise for actionable insight; allowing IT to deliver services that match the needs of the business.
Data Manager is designed to complement enterprise grade systems management applications such as HP Monitoring and IBM Tivoli Monitoring and to function as a capacity warehouse for consolidating and normalizing performance data from multiple instances of heterogeneous performance data sources.
Support for Virtualized Metrics
Virtualization has added flexibility to data centers. But with this, added complexity. Some servers have been virturalized, while others are not. Data Manager supports both physical and virtualized servers.
Automated Data Collection and Validation
Data Manager can be scheduled to automatically pull, normalize, synchronize and validate performance data from a variety of popular vendors and custom data sources. Data that isn't accurate can't provide the insight needed. Data Manager has been designed to ensure no gaps exist in data and that data is accurate. Data collection periods and metrics can be refined to levels corresponding to actual business and application lifecycles, if required.
Open Reporting Framework including Profiling and Trending of Applications on Demand
Data Manager includes an open reporting framework that provides report views of all content in the capacity repository. Users can leverage out-of-box integrated reports to support simple trend analysis and application profiling, or they can create their own reports using their own report writing software. If you need to understand what is currently happening with an application, Data Manager provides a graphical answer with no extra time or effort on your part. You can have reports now, or schedule them to run at specified intervals based on specific data. The html-based reports can easily be shared with stakeholders to facilitate discussion and decision-support. Users now also have the option to leverage predefined Crystal Report templates for reporting, including SAP Application Profiling reports.
Normalize and Manage Heterogeneous Performance Data, including virtualized data
Most large organizations have performance management data from a variety of sources. Only Data Manager gives you the ability to support and utilize all sources from a single repository. If part of your application runs on VMware, while other parts run on UNIX/Linux servers managed by HP Monitoring and still others are monitored by SAR or PerfMon, Data Manager can deliver an integrated normalized data set for reporting and modeling. Even unique data sources can be utilized in Data Manager for ultimate flexibility.
Business and Technical Insight
Using a customizable Data Adapter, Data Manager can collect business information, including financial data, energy consumption, floor space, carbon footprint, and best practice reference data along with capacity and performance metrics. Reports generated from Data Manager provide business leaders the measurements they need to make informed business decisions.
